I spent the summer of 2009 in South Carolina's low country. For the few photos that make this website, there are literally hundreds upon hundreds that are just sitting on memory cards.
There are some amazing scenes when you just stop and look. Now matter how vast the background is, sometimes there is a great shot sitting right in front of you.
This was taken from the top of Chimney Rock in Chimney Rock Park, NC. In the distance Lake Lure is visible and the transition from the Mountains to the Piedmont.
The new Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, SC. This replaced the "Cooper River Bridges" which were two steel truss type bridges.
Cobbleston streets
I loved walking through the streets of Charleston, SC. You can feel the history of the city and region from the Gullah descendants making and selling their sweet grass wares, to the flicker of the gas lamps on the exterior of the older buildings. If you look close in the back alleys, one can see the most elaborate courtyards.
Cobbleston Beaches
Wheeler Beach in Narragansett, RI. This was taken in December 2009. Most of the sand for the beach had created dunes that covered half of the parking lot. The fences that are visible are in place to prevent the sand from blowing/washing away.
